Differences in Future Families Inc. (DIFF) is a Jackson-based nonprofit created to help youth and families break cycles of instability. We focus on practical skills – trades, money, housing readiness, and everyday life skills – so that young people don’t just “get through” school, they graduate with options, support, and a plan. At the same time, we offer resources and workshops for parents and caregivers, because the whole family matters.
Mission: To empower youth and families in under-resourced communities through hands-on career exposure, financial education, and wrap-around supports that build stability, confidence, and opportunity.
Vision: A future where young people in Jackson and surrounding areas can step into adulthood with skills, savings, support, and safe housing – and where families feel equipped, not overwhelmed, when planning for their future.
DIFF was founded by Cortni Jefferson, a Jackson native who saw too many students graduating without a plan, and too many families trying to survive without support. DIFF was created to fill that gap with practical, loving, community-based support.
Our Core Values:
• Family-Centered: We serve the whole family, not just the student.
• Hands-On Learning: We believe in “learn it, then do it.”
• Dignity & Respect: Every youth and parent is treated as capable and worthy.
• Consistency: Stable relationships and repeated touchpoints matter.
• Future-Focused: Every workshop connects back to long-term goals: career, housing, mental health, and financial stability.
